Argyll
Crosple Cottage, an elegant and cosy retreat for two, is set in a peaceful location on a 250-acre private estate that includes the owner’s working hill farm. Beautifully furnished and equipped to an exceptional standard, it offers a warm Scottish welcome and the ideal setting for a romantic escape.
Tucked into rolling countryside with sweeping views towards Loch Melfort, the cottage provides the perfect backdrop for unwinding far from the pace of city life. Rolling green hills, quiet beaches, and dramatic loch and mountain vistas create endless opportunities for quiet strolls to more challenging hill and mountain walks.
In summer months, throw open the French doors and enjoy alfresco dining on the sunny south facing patio. In winter, settle in by the wood burner for a cosy evening by the fire, complete with your favourite film (Netflix provided). The well-appointed kitchen includes a dishwasher, induction hob, double-oven, air fryer and microwave, ensuring effortless self-catering. For a night out, the popular “Gunpowder Restaurant” is an easy and enjoyable 15-minute walk away.
Wildlife thrives here, and a network of tracks and trails invites you to explore the shoreline, woodlands and hills at your own pace. Twelve local lochs offer opportunities for fly fishing (permits available locally), and mackerel can often be caught from the rocks around the loch—two spinning rods with tackle are provided.
Outdoor enthusiasts will find no shortage of activities in this exceptional natural playground. Golfers can enjoy a round at the renowned Machrihanish Golf Club—one of the finest links courses in Great Britain—just over an hour away, or opt for the closer golf courses in Oban or on Seil Island, each around a 30-minute drive. Horse-riding experiences range from exhilarating gallops along secluded beaches to scenic treks through the hills of mid-Argyll.
For a truly unforgettable adventure, a 2hr boat trip to the Corryvreckan whirlpool—the world’s third largest—is always popular with our guests, with regular sightings of grey seals, whales, red deer and golden eagles. Alternatively, catch a ferry from Oban and enjoy day trips to the Isles of Mull, Iona, Staffa and the striking Fingal’s Cave.
