Highlands
Laggan is a unique self-catering cottage. It has no electricity, and cannot be reached by road (the nearest road is a 3 hour walk or a 10 min boat trip away) so you can have real peace and tranquility - BLISS.
But don't just take my word for it...It has been featured in The Guardian, Observer, Daily Telegraph and Times in the last few years as one of the most remote/best off-grid holiday or digital detox cottages in the UK - see the press articles tab in the headers at the top of the ardnish website.
Use of a boat and outboard engine are included in the rental price, so you can explore the coastline on foot and by sea.
Relax in the soft, romantic glow of paraffin lamps and enjoy each other’s company instead of slumping in front of the telly. Laggan sleeps five (as long as the fifth is either a child or a non-claustrophobic adult), and has much for those who love wildlife, the outdoors or just pottering about on the beach. Fresh air, sea views out to the Hebrides and small isles, seals, red deer, shags, divers and white-tailed sea eagles, it offers a fantastic family holiday like no other.
It may have no electricity, but there is a calor gas fridge (when did you last hear the phrase “I'm just off to light the fridge”?) and a calor gas cooker, so you can have ice in your g+t and a hot dinner after all. It has two wood-burning stoves which keep the house snug (and provide piping hot water), and when the paraffin lamps are lit in the evening, if anything, it can be as warm as you like it.
Whilst the house is on the mainland, the only practical way to reach the house is by private boat. You also have sole use of the boat when you rent the house (bad news for keen rowers - handily it comes with an engine). You must therefore have boating experience - No Landlubbers.
