Nestled within a garden of ancient stone and heather,  you will find The Rock House, boasting beautiful luxury 5-star self-catering facilities in an intimate dwelling, designed for two, with an aspect overlooking Borve Beach.

The Rock House blends gracefully into the existing natural rock terraces which are common to the Isle of Harris and the turf roof imerges with the peaty hillside. 

Th house has, a simple minimalist design with furniture made from driftwood and  showcasing natural materials throughout. The fireplace sits on a huge block of Gneiss rock and it looks as if the house has been built around it. Beams from an old wharf create the fireplace mantel. Much of the furniture and fittings have been locally made and some crafted from driftwood.

The Rock House is the perfect place to watch the Atlantic waves in any weather with its floor to ceiling panoramic windows provide stunning sea views. And if you feel like snuggling down and settling in, just draw the thick sumptuous curtains and relax on the chaise sofa.  As a result, The Rock House provides a luxury self-catering experience in the dramatic Hebridean landscape of the Isle of Harris.

The bedroom, boasts a bespoke superking bed, leads to the large bathroom with ‘his and hers’ sinks anchored on slate slabs.  A standalone deep bath is ready for those who like a good long soak. A spacious wet space behind glass provides for anyone who prefers a power shower. Hot water throughout the house comes from an air source heat pump.

The Rock House is open all year round for weekly bookings. Short stays of 3 or 4 nights are also available.  

Unfortunately, we are unable to accept bookings for guests with children or pets in the Rock House.

Things to do:

During your stay, why not also take one of our boat trips to the secluded, uninhabited Isle of Taransay? These operate during the summer period, weather depending.

Visit the many white sandy beaches which you'll find all around the coast of Harris and Lewis. 

Take home a beautiful souvenir of your visit from one of the wonderful galleries and craft markets.
