The Glorious Outdoors
Kinclune House has a large enclosed garden, a lovely traditional summer house on the lawn with integrated seating for your whole group, separate, quality tables and chairs for outdoor dining and a Kadai firebowl (firepit and a BBQ).
We feed our native red squirrels, so you are highly likely to spot one in the garden or from the kitchen window. Friendly pet sheep and Highland ponies are regular visitors to the fields in front of the house, as are roe deer and brown hare. Red kite and osprey are often spotted overhead by guests. The views are indescribable stretching north west to RSPB Kinnordy Nature Reserve (approximately 2 miles) and the town of Forfar (12 miles). To the south west enjoy an uninterupted view of the rolling green valley of Strathmore stretching towards Glamis, Alyth and Coupar Angus.
Angus is a hidden gem for lovers of Scotland's stunning scenery and outdoor adventures. It is ideally located for walking, climbing, fishing and wildlife watching in the Angus Glens and Scottish Cairngorms. We recommend exploring Glen Clova, Glen Isla and Glen Prosen and our local lochs and castles (Glamis, Balintore and Brechin castles). The Glenshee Mountain Resort, right in the heart of the Cairngorms, is only 40 minutes from Kinclune and it is a beautiful drive from there to Braemar and Royal Balmoral Castle.
However, you don't need to leave Kinclune to experience the wild beauty of Angus. The name 'Kinclune' comes from the Gaelic for 'head of the meadow', signalling the elevated position of the house and the upland landscape and panoramic views surrounding it. Kinclune is an award-winning nature-friendly estate and organic farm and we offer nature-based experiences, including a wildlife safari and a picnic with a Highland Pony. From April to September you can view 2 pairs of nesting osprey and a variety of Red List, specially protected farmland birds. We would love to tell you about our work with the RSPB, Working for Waders and the government agency, Nature Scot, on estate conservation projects and biodiversity surveys. By choosing Kinclune House, you are supporting us to continue this work.
