Your drive to Tigh Lachie takes you along one of the most spectacular and scenic roads in the whole of Scotland and most certainly on the Isle of Skye. Once out of Broadford, and onto the Strathaird peninsula, you pass the old ruined church of Cill Chriosd on the way to the wee village of Torrin. It is then the imposing and majestic Bla Bheinn looms into full view. Around Loch Slapin on and up the ever increasingly winding single track road. You eventually arrive at Elgol, a small fishing and crofting hamlet right at the end of the peninsula.
Down at the shore there is a small harbour where the local fishing boats land their catch of lobster, prawns & crabs daily. There are also fantastic views of the Cuillins across Loch Scavaig.
Boat trips on board the Misty Isle or the Bella Jane run daily from the harbour into Lock Coruisk at the foot of the Cuillins. You will also find trips available to the small isles of Rum, Eigg, Canna and beyond.
We are ideally situated for those of you who like walking or climbing. There are many beautiful and some more challenging walks you can take from the doorstep where you may be fortunate enough to glimpse some of our amazing wildlife. Red deer, golden eagle, otter and dolphin to name but a few. If art or photography is your passion then the scenery is stunning and the light is ever changing. You will find something new around every corner.
Whatever the weather is outside you should be safe in the knowledge that when you return to your cottage a warm and inviting welcome awaits you.
The Isle of Skye is becoming ever more popular for weddings and elopements, particularly at Loch Coruisk. We would be more than happy to accommodate your romantic honeymoon stay and should some of your guests want to stay locally we may be able to offer suggestions.
The Coruisk House hotel is on our doorstep for a special meal in lovely surroundings. The Elgol Bistro is just a short stroll away , Amy's Place cakes and gift shop in Torrin is a must stop and the little shop in Elgol does lovely cakes!... or you could go further afield to The Three Chimneys restaurant in the north of the island...Broadford also has many places to choose from....So much choice!
