  • Committed to Quality

Located in a quiet and private woodland setting with fantastic views across woodlands towards the Solway and the Lake District Honeysuckle provides a spacious and comfortable base for a superb holiday in Southern Scotland and is sure to appeal to families, mountain bikers, walkers and all who are looking for a quiet and peaceful location from which to explore all that Scotland has to offer.
Honeysuckle has a spacious deck making it a perfect place to sit and enjoy a glass of wine whilst enjoying the sparkling stars in one of the darkest skies you are likely to encounter as the lodge is on the edge of Europe's first Dark Skies Park in the Galloway Forest Park. The setting is also ideal for enjoying the local wildlife, you will see red squirrels, deer, badgers, bats and possibly even pine martens whilst relaxing in the peace and tranquillity.
The local area provides a wealth of opportunities for exploring including two good pubs in the popular sailing village of Kippford and slightly further away at Castle Douglas and Dumfries. Wildlife abounds throughout the area and well worth a visit is the RSPB Mersehead Reserve which has an interesting walk leading through the reserve along the sandy beach. The Solway Coast of course is superb for walking with rocky headlands and deserted coves to explore. Further inland the Forestry Commission woodlands provide excellent mountain biking opportunities with the 7Stanes Mountain Bike Trails, the Dalbeattie Woods are literally minutes from the lodges front door. The woodlands are also excellent for walking and exploring if looking for slightly less strenuous exercise.
The history and culture of Scotland is well represented with local sites including Sweetheart Abbey at New Abbey together with one of the oldest Corn Mills, both sites are managed by Historic Scotland. Other sites worthy of note include Threave Gardens (National Trust for Scotland) and Threave Castle both at Castle Douglas.
Whether you are looking for history and culture or outdoor pursuits such as horse riding, cycling, walking, fishing, golf (the Championship Links Course at Southerness is only fifteen minutes' drive away) or woodland walks you are truly spoilt for choice whilst the lodge provides a wonderful, comfortable, spacious home from home for enjoying a leisurely time in the evenings when not out exploring the local area.
