Mallaig

Mallaig is a Scottish fishing village located about 150 miles north of Glasgow, an important ferry terminal for the Small Isles, including Skye, Tiree, and Canna.  It is famous as the region that Prince Charles Edward Stuart or ‘Bonnie Prince Charlie’, the Jacobite claimant to the British throne, retreated to after his defeat at Culloden in 1746. A monument in Glenfinnan, where the Jacobite uprising began, pays tribute to the ill-fated Prince.
