Property Description

Situated in the pretty Scottish village of Strone near Dunoon, and located within the Argyll Forest Park, Strathspey holiday cottage is an ideal retreat for couples. Holidaymakers can expect breath-taking views and easy access to spectacular sea lochs and glens.

Explore forest trails, bluebell woods or the waterfalls of the magnificent nearby Pucks Glen. Enjoy a coffee and cake in the Benmore Botanic Gardens. Within the forest park waymarked paths guide you to easy or strenuous walking, cycling routes or viewpoints for watching wildlife.

If you want to relax then discover lazy days in the sun lounge just watching the ferries and sailing boats go by. You might be lucky and catch a glimpse of the resident red squirrels.

Locally facilities include a village Post Office and general store for stocking up on provisions, a pub and two golf courses. Good pubs, restaurants and tourist amenities are within easy reach.

Drive or hop in the bus to nearby Dunoon to check out its attractive promenade, historic castle Mound, famous Victorian Pier and lively Burgh Hall art gallery and café. The town boasts a good range of restaurants, cafes, shops, sports and swimming facilities, supermarkets and cinema.

No matter how long or short you holiday is there is plenty to do around Argyll and Bute.

We love our cottage and its fantastic setting. We've shared it with holiday makers for the last 10 years. Comments in our visitor book reveal that our guests enjoy being there as much as we do. We try to make it a comfortable home from home and welcome feedback from guests. There is so much to enjoy, the West Coast weather means that the view from the sun lounge is always dramatic one way or the other. If you visit be sure to take your camera and some binoculars if you have them.

On lazy days you can take advantage of our DVD collection or browse our bookshelves. We keep a stock of leaflets on things to do or see.

If you want to take a rest from driving the local bus service is good; and there are lovely walks along the shore or in the forest tracks on Strone Hill behind the cottage. The Strone Inn and Ardentinny Hotel (a couple of miles away) offer great food - always best to check opening times during the season. The Lorne in Dunoon is lovely for lunch or dinner.... and the recently-restored Burgh Hall arts centre is well worth a check opening times in advance.
