Welcome to Balneden Steading self-catering holiday cottages
We are situated in the Moray Speyside area of the Cairngorms National Park. Our three spacious cottages enjoy panoramic views across the hills and valleys of the picturesque Glenlivet Estate. You can find us just off the A939 Snow Roads from Grantown-on-Spey, 3 miles north of Tomintoul, the highest village in the Highlands.
Nestled on the hillside above the River Avon, which flows from the heart of the Cairngorms lofty mountains, Balneden is a great place to relax and unwind. Think of underfloor heating, a cosy wood burning stove and luxurious, high quality beds and bedding for the perfect night’s sleep – a place so comfortable you really can call it “home from home”.
Locally we have plenty to offer including: a variety of walks amongst the valleys, woods and hills of the beautiful Glenlivet Estate; the art, craft and whisky shops of Tomintoul; the Bike Glenlivet cycle trails across the valley; and, in winter, the Lecht Ski Centre just south of Tomintoul. Distillery tours, historic castles, outdoor adventure days, or a visit to the RSPB Osprey Centre are all tempting short drives away. For those of you wishing to explore further afield, Royal Deeside, the Moray Dolphin Coast and Loch Ness are all within easy reach. So … COME AND ENJOY, Balneden could be your escape to peace, tranquillity and adventures galore!
PS: you may like to know that we are in one of driest areas of Scotland and rarely encounter midges.
