The Healthy Scotland Foodie Outdoor Self-Catering Trip
The #TasteYeBack event has had bloggers from all over the world foraging for food and taking cookery lessons, as well as embracing the great outdoors through a range of activities including bungee jumping, land yachting and rock climbing. What Happened on #TasteYeBack?
If you’ve been to Scotland, you may have heard the phrase ‘haste ye back’. It’s a way of saying we’d love you to return again sometime soon. As autumn is the perfect time to get a taste of Scotland, the Travel Blogger Trip ran from 30th September to 2nd October. Using the hashtag #TasteYeBack, it gave a three day taste of Scottish food, outdoor activities and self-catering accommodation.
After arriving in Scotland, the blogtastic team had a blinding introduction to cooking with Scottish ingredients in Edinburgh before heading out into the great Scottish outdoors in Fife, Perthshire and Argyll.
Three blogger groups split to prepare and refine their food making skills before meeting again for a final cook-off in the spectacular Scottish surroundings of Melville Castle.
The groups travelled to Auchtermuchty, Blair Atholl and Taynuilt to stay in some great 100% quality assured rural self-catering accommodation found on EmbraceScotland.
Tuesday 1 October 2013 – Networking Event and Cook-off
After a morning bungee jumping at Killiecrankie, land yachting on St Andrews West Sands, or rock climbing in Glen Croe, the intrepid crew travelled to the fantastic Melville Castle for the Cook-off.
The #TasteYeBack Cook-off brought together the travel bloggers, self-catering property owners, businesses, and tourism marketers to share the experience. Food at the networking event was cooked by the bloggers/journalists from fine Scottish ingredients.
Overnight was spent in some sophisticated city EmbraceScotland self-catering in Edinburgh.
Wednesday 2 October 2013 – Forage for Breakfast!
In honour of Edinburgh’s forthcoming Gastrofest in 2014, the trip ended with a foraging trip in the Edinburgh Royal Botanic Gardens and a morning in the capital city.
Then everyone was off to Dublin for TBEx 2013, the world’s premier international travel blogging conference.
