John and Christine have been involved in award winning tourist businesses for many years. We have owned large hotels, self catering cottages and also the National Pub of the Year in 2005/6. We love holidays, walking our dog, listening and attending music concerts. Real ales, eating out and fine wines are also a passion. John is a musician, composer and musical conductor. Christine, a semi retired chef, loves cooking and makes home made jam for the Welcome Basket. She is a committee member on the professional body ASSC and is involved in tourism development for the Scottish Borders.

Stay at in the beautiful Cheviots at Benfield and have a day trip on Britain's newest railway, Borders Railway to visit Scotland's capital Edinburgh. Park at Tweedbank near Melrose and take one of the frequent trains through the beautiful landscape to historic Edinburgh. Journey time about an hour . Cycling is a joy too as the roads are quiet and there are lots of dedicated cycle routes in the area.

The cottage is also a great place to research family history and find out more about the Reivers and the Border Families such as the Armstrongs.

Many guests return again and again to enjoy the tranquility of the area and relax in this four star cottage.
