Ayshire and Arran are very close to Glasgow International airport and also have good rail links from Glasgow. The ‘Scotland in Miniature” island of Arran is reached via a regular ferry service from Ardrossan, just an hour from the centre of the city.
Ayrshire
Ayrshire is located on the west coast south of Glasgow. Located in Ayrshire are the historic towns of Ayr, Maybole, Girvan, Troon, and Prestwick. Ayrshire is the famous host for three Open Championship golf courses along with 40 other varied and challenging courses. This makes Ayrshire a must go destination for golfers. Ayrshire and nearby Lanarkshire also boast a rich industrial heritage, with a long history or production and manufacture.

Arran
The Isle of Arran is Scotland’s southern most island located in the Firth of Clyde, accessed by the short sea crossing run by Caledonian MacBrayne (known universally as the Calmac) ferry service. Arran has such a mild climate that even palm trees grow, thanks to the warms waters of the Gulf Stream. The pretty villages on Arran’s beautiful coastline are complemented by a rugged and mountainous interior in the north and green rolling hills and woodland in the south.
