Aberdeen and Grampian Highlands is the huge triangle of land that thrusts into the North Sea and comprises the regions of Aberdeenshire, Banffshire and Moray and the city of Aberdeen, city of flowers, Scotland's third largest city.
Moray Firth
The Moray Firth, from the hardy fishing port of Fraserburgh west to the Findhorn community, has some of the country's most dramatic coastal scenery, with perfect little fishing villages clinging for dear life to storm-battered cliffs. There are also long stretches of apricot-coloured beaches, golf courses, long hours of sunshine, and even dolphins frolicking in the waters offshore.

Flowing into the Moray Firth is the River Spey, whose gentle, wooded valley is the centre of Scotland's malt whisky industry. The annual Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival, held first weekend in May is a celebration of whisky, food and music at venues throughout the area including Dufftown, Aberlour and the City of Elgin.
The Cairngorm National Park takes in some of the most spectacular landscapes in Scotland, from the wild tundra of the high mountain tops to the heather moors and grand glens. Braemar (famous for its Highland Games) is in the southern part of the park and the trip over the mountains to the Lecht ski resort and Glenlivet is spectacular with excellent walking and wildlife throughout the area.

Another of the region's assets is its rich history. This is castle country and there are over 70 in Aberdeenshire, Banffshire and Moray including Huntly, Crathes Dunnottar and Drum. One of the most famous is Balmoral Castle, Scottish home of the Royal Family.
