Dunalastair Holiday Cottages range from a romantic cottage for two with bath on a plinth in the window and a 20 mile view, to a tower house for 8 by the river together with 4, 5 and 6 person cottages each of individual character. Great care has been taken in furnishing the cottages to make them homes from home with all modern appliances.
Our charming rural retreats are set amongst an idyllic landscape of mountain and loch and are well located for exploring further afield. Activities in the area range from hill-walking and water sports to pony trekking, wildlife watching and fishing. And there are many distilleries, castles and gardens to visit. Eating places together with a well-stocked shop are within easy reach by car. Dogs are welcome (max 2). Short breaks are sometimes available mainly out of the main seasons.
Our popular honeymoon cottage is set by itself, well away from other buildings and with fabulous views and lots of space. It has a four-poster bed, shower room with underfloor heating and a bath on a plinth in one of the five large windows in the main room with views down the loch. The log stove makes it cosy and romantic.
Our website is full of information and pictures of the cottages and the area, so do have a browse.

Ian and Rose de Sales La Terriere live on and run the estate which consists of an extensive farm with sheep and cattle, trout fishing, forestry, shooting and stalking. We have been letting out cottages for holidays since 1971 and now often welcome the grandchildren of our original holidaymakers!
In the last couple of years the estate has been used as an iconic location for the American TV series'Outlander' (viewed on Amazon Prime),and visitors are excited to find the spot where Claire is transported, in the ring of standing stones, back in time to 1743. The stones are only there during filming, however, but the site is beautiful and historic.
On the farm, the cattle are mostly Luing, a tough hardy beef breed originating from Highlanders crossed with Beef Shorthorn. Our sheep are mainly blackface which suit the terrain and weather of the highlands. There are forestry plantations of commercial timber as well as native woodlands and regeneration of native species. A small hydro scheme came into operation in November 2015 which feeds energy into the national grid as well as providing an EV charger in Kinloch Rannoch for use by locals and visitors.
