Property Description

Quinag is located in Achiltibuie, a traditional crofting community that hugs the coast of Badentarbet bay, which is sheltered by the Summer Isles. This is an area that has had settlements for many centuries, and remnants can still be seen in the hills and glens around us, preserved in the place names you will encounter as you explore the area. The Coigach peninsula offers a real “get away from it all” which never fails to deliver with unspoilt beaches, hidden lochs, majestic mountains and enticing islands. Wildlife abounds, both on land and at sea.
Quinag is ideally situated for enjoying the amenities and attractions that draw visitors to Coigach and Assynt, as well as being a great base to explore the wider region.
The nearest beach at Badentarbet is a 10 minute walk from the house. The large sandy expanse of beach of Achnahaird with its stunning mountain views is just a 5 minute drive away. Just as close is Old Dornie harbour, used by both local fishermen and small pleasure craft, with a public slipway.
The house is also a short walk from the renowned Summer Isles Hotel which offers both gourmet dining and informal meals in the bar which is a friendly hub for locals and visitors alike. In the neighbouring village of Altandhu you will find another welcoming bar and restaurant Am Fuaran.
The lovely Coigach Community Hall is a regular venue for live music, exhibitions and other community events and visitors to the area are always given a big welcome!

Quinag was built in 2008 on the site of an old church and is finished and furnished to a high standard in a contemporary style with hard flooring and rugs. It retains echoes of its origins with a double height ceiling over the living room and a gallery area which provides another living space. The house is centrally heated throughout and well insulated. The open plan living and dining area with large wood burning stove is the heart of the house and a great place to start and end the day! Both living and dining space have sea views, and open on to a well-equipped modern kitchen.
Quinag has four bedrooms; three doubles and one twin. Two of the doubles are downstairs (one is en-suite), and this would be suitable for less mobile guests. There is a large family bathroom downstairs. Upstairs are two further bedrooms and a shower room. All showers are power showers. White towels and high quality white cotton bed linen are included. Toiletries are by Scottish Fine Soaps.
The gallery area provides more living / sleeping accommodation with its own TV and a double sofa bed which can accommodate two further guests (by agreement).
In the main living area there is a large internet TV, DVD player and radio/Ipod dock. Wi-fi is available throughout the house. There is an extensive DVD movie library; walking books and guides and OS maps to help you plan your days!
With plenty of room for a large group, Quinag is ideal for a family get-together and we enjoy our family holidays here also!
