Foresters Lodge has an open plan living room and kitchen/diner with well-equipped modern kitchen including dishwasher, electric oven and hobs, fridge, freezer and a dining area with oak table and leather chairs, enjoying views to the mountains to the south and east, well placed to take advantage of the sunrise. The spacious bedroom has king size bed with luxury Egyptian cotton duvet, sheets and towels, a built in wardrobe and dressing table with light over and hairdryer. The lodge faces south and enjoys the sun all day long. The en-suite bathroom has a large corner jacuzzi bath, big enough for two, a separate shower cubicle and the added luxury of a traditional steam sauna and Egyptian cotton bath mats. The lodge has a covered south facing veranda perfect for BBQs or just sitting out and watching the bird life. It's also possible you will see a white tailed sea eagle fly past on route to their hunting grounds or a Golden Eagle soaring over the ridge or over the garden as they have on many occasions! Pine Martens visit the lodge every night and it may be possible to experience a very close encounter with one of these magnificent mammals. Barn owls nest in boxes not to far from the lodge and use the gardens for their nightly patrols . The Lodge is located in a sheltered inlet just a short distance away from romantic and historic Loch Shiel overlooking the Polloch river which meanders through the glen from Loch Doilet. The lodge is situated in the grounds of our croft which was also formerly a forester’s bothy and game keeper’s croft house. There are uninterrupted views south to Beinn Resipol, east to Glenhurich Forest and north and west to the mountains. Loch Sheil is only a 10 minute walk and has a pontoon where it's possible to 'walk on water' well that's the feeling you get! Black throated divers and various other wildlife can be spotted from here. Boat trip from the pontoon Wednesday only in summer. Bikes can be hired from ourselves should you wish cycle to Glenfinnan or explore this remote glen. The nearest village is Strontian, 8 miles away, which is known for its mining of the mineral Strontium named after the village. Strontian has amenities including hotels with bar/restaurants open to non-residents, cafes, excellent stocked shop, post office, tearooms, petrol station, craft shops, library, Fort William 1 hour.
