When to Visit

When you decide to visit Scotland will depend on what you want to do during your stay.  The main tourist season is between April and September, with the school holidays in July and August making this peak time for accommodation.  Although the summer months of June, July and August are usually mild and warm, the driest months are actually April/May and September/October.  However, Scottish weather is notoriously unpredictable and you can sometimes experience all four seasons in the one day!  Despite the colder weather of the winter months, the lack of crowds at this time of year mean you will often have the beaches and walks to yourself - and a crisp winter's day can be spectacular.
