EmbraceScotland Property Wins Green Tourism Goldstar Award

Congratulations to EmbraceScotland property Bluebell Croft – the highest achieving self-catering business in the Green Tourism Scheme for the whole of the UK.

Green Tourism Goldstar awards were given to eight of Britain’s most environmentally friendly businesses by the Green Tourism Business Scheme, chosen from over 2,300 green tourism companies across the UK, for reaching the ‘top of their class’.  Bluebell Croft, a sustainable working croft in the West Highlands, won the Goldstar award for Best Self-Catering Accommodation.

The 5 star luxury self-catering at Bluebell Croft consists of Rose Cottage, sleeping 2-4 plus, and Honeysuckle House, sleeping 8 plus – together a huge house, sleeping 12-16.  Bill and Sukie Barber run their self-catering using a wind turbine, solar panels and a wood boiler.  They produce their own meat, soft fruit and vegetables together with lots of home-smoked goodies, and their own milk from Daisy the cow.

If you’re interested in self-catering with a Green Tourism Award, you can select ‘Green Tourism’ in your accommodation search on EmbraceScotland.

What a fantastic achievement, Bill and Sukie. Many congratulations and may I say “entirely deserved”. We love coming to stay – it’s a home from home, but where you can be on holiday…if you know what I mean.

Well deserved. This is our favourite place. You know you like somewhere a lot when you feel like part of the family. See you next year guys.

Well done Bill & Sukie – it’s brilliant news, and a much deserved award that pays testimony to your commitment and passion for your guests and your principles.

Looking forward to seeing all of you next year, and gutted that this year’s a no-go. Big hugs to you all and a special hug from Ela

What more can I add! Thoroughly well deserved after so much hard work. So many folk talk about being ‘green’ – Bill & Sukie actually DO it. The wind turbine saves electricity; the log boiler for hot water & heating saves masses of oil. Cows, pigs, hens, ducks & geese + Bill’s amazing fruit & veg produce food for family & visitors alike, with not a scrap wasted in such a food chain.
    A superb setup!
